New information from SAFE (Saving Antiquities for Everyone)!

In our last newsletter, we urged readers to write the U.S. State Department in support of import restrictions on ancient Cypriot coins. Thank you to all who submitted letters and provided input to SAFE. Together, we sent a strong message to the State Department about the importance of protecting cultural heritage and the ramifications of allowing Cypriot coins unrestricted into the U.S. Stay tuned for their decision...

See it before it's gone
 
Rakowitz art Artist Michael Rakowitz's The invisible enemy should not exist explores the fate of the artifacts still missing after the 2003 looting of the Iraq Museum. Using information from the University of Chicago’s Oriental Institute and Interpol databases, Rakowitz reconstructed the artifacts using packaging from Middle Eastern foodstuffs and local Arabic newspapers, creating an intricate narrative installation.
